How to clean suede shoes?

Suede shoes are something soft in touch and texture giving your feet an adorable lush. Whether it is to accompany a party dressing, a casual office day, an informal gathering or, a wedding ceremony; suede shoes can prove a symbol of sublime personality … but …only …when they are neat, clean, softly shiny and brushed well.

Cleaning suede shoes

  • Put some crumpled paper in the shoe to stiff the shoe surface for an easy hand service.
  • Use the crepe brush or a brass suede brush to clean dirt from your soft velvety shoes. Be specific in choosing a brush that is meant for the very type of your shoes as Suede brushes have soft bristles that are gentle enough for use on delicate suede or nubuck shoes while regular brushes have tough bristles to make leather shoes shiny.
  • After removing dirt, you need some white vinegar diluted with same amount of water. Dip a clean microfiber cloth in it and rub gently. Clean well on all sides. Let the shoe dry completely.
  • Brush the shoe once more to regain fluff on suede

Fixing faded suede shoes

If the shoes show weary appearance and are faded, it is the time to use an aerosol based spray dye of the same color. Take care that this spray dye must be used after thorough cleaning of shoe. Give enough time to dry up.

Taking care of suede shoes

  • Never put on your lovely suede shoes on a rainy day
  • Never use for muddy places
  • Always store away from direct sunlight
  • Never use regular wax based shoe polish
  • Stain removers or bleach are the worst to clean suede articles

Guard against stains

Suede protectors are there in the market to help you guard against stains. Regularly apply a protector on your shoe. It will act like a water repellent and protect from stains. It may also enhance the suede life.
