🚲 Proposal of Lahore Bicycle Roads Project: A Smarter City by 2030

Project Name: Green Pedal Lahore: Bicycle Culture

Objective: Build dedicated bicycle lanes to reduce traffic, fuel costs, health issues, and air pollution.

🎯 Project Goals (By 2030)

Goal Outcome
🚴 200,000 Daily Cyclists Reduce car & bike usage by 10%
🛣️ 150 km of Bike Lanes Across main roads, universities & markets
💸 Save Rs 20 Billion On fuel, health & accident costs annually
🌱 Cut CO₂ by 0.5 Million Tons Cleaner air, fewer respiratory diseases

📍 Why Lahore Needs Bicycles

Fuel Consumption: Lahore’s private transport burns approx. 1.2 million liters/day.

    10% shift to bikes saves ~120,000 liters/day = Rs 36 million/month.

      Traffic Congestion: 3.5+ million vehicles.

Bicycles take 1/6th the road space, easing flow.

Health Issues: High obesity & diabetes rates.

Daily cycling cuts risk of heart disease by 40%.

Air Pollution: Among top 5 polluted cities globally.

          Bicycles emit zero emissions.

🚴 Green Pedal Lahore = Healthier People + Safer Roads + Cleaner City

Bicycle Roads: One way to save the nation involves encouraging a 10% shift to bikes, potentially saving around 120,000 liters of fuel per day, equivalent to Rs 36 million each month. Bicycles’ efficient use of road space can help ease traffic congestion while promoting environmental conservation through zero emissions. Embracing daily cycling can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease by 40%, making it a sustainable and health-conscious transportation choice. By implementing the Green Pedal Lahore initiative from 2025 to 2030, we aim to create a healthier, safer, and cleaner city while positioning Lahore as a model for sustainable urban mobility in South Asia. Let’s pave the way for a brighter future—one bike lane at a time.
